Scholarship Requirements

Review the requirements for each scholarship below and select the (apply button) to apply for each scholarship. Some scholarships require additional questions. Check requirements of all scholarships before applying.

Attention All Applicants

  • All applications are to be submitted online
  • All applications are due by April 15th @ 11:59 p.m.
  • All applicants must be enrolled 2nd semester to be eligible to receive any scholarships.
  • All scholarship checks will be made payable to recipient and school they’re attending.
  • If attending out of state school, need the institution’s exact address.
  • Past graduates need to submit current transcript with the application.
  • All questions must be answered.

2024 Class of 1937

An applicant who attended the Tekamah-Herman Community Schools for only three years and has obtained a GED certificate may also be considered. Preference should be given to the applicants who have been out of high school one or more years and now want to pursue education beyond high school. Required grade point average of 2.0 or above. The applicant's community-wide citizenship and financial need shall be a major qualifying factor in awarding this scholarship.

2024 Allely Family Medical Memorial

Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale majoring in a medical program which may include (but is not limited to) the following: medicine, dentistry, ophthalmology, pharmacy, physician's assistant, podiatry, and nursing. Chiropractic programs are excluded. The applicant's financial need and work experience will be considered. Preference will be given to a member of the United Methodist Church, but no one will be excluded on this basis.

2024 Kirk R. Dye Memorial Medical Scholarship

Applicant must be at least a second year student with a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale majoring in a medical program which may include the following: medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician's assistant and nursing. Chiropractic programs are excluded. Financial need and work experience will be considered.

2024 Class of 1980 & Scott Nelson Memorial

A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above. The applicant's community-wide citizenship and involvement may be considerations for the award of this scholarship. The applicant's financial need may be a qualifying factor in awarding this scholarship. Special consideration will given to applicants who have a direct tie to a member of the Class of 1980.

2024 Jack Family Scholarship

Lucile Jack Payne and Howard K. Payne wish to contribute funds for a scholarship in memory of Mrs. Payne's sister, Dorothy Jack Christianson and parents, Arthur H. Jack and Dora Laucomer Jack. Mrs. Christianson was a graduate of Tekamah Public Schools and a dedicated teacher and school principal. The applicant must have a cumulative high school 3.0 GPA or above and must be planning to go into the teaching profession. The applicant must plan to attend or be accepted by an approved college or university with an accredited program in Education. The committee should give strong consideration to persons who wish to change careers to that of teaching or a homemaker who wishes to go back to school to become a teacher.

2024 Ade & Theda Jezek

A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above is required. Since there are more scholarships available for graduating seniors than there are for past graduates, the Foundation should give strong consideration to applicants who have been out of high school one or more years. Applicants shall be judged on scholarship, community involvement and financial needs

2024 Henry Bayard Johnson & Gladys Wesgaard Johnson

This scholarship is given in memory of Henry Bayard Johnson and Norma Wesgaard Johnson. Applicants, as stated in the Will of Norma Johnson Mueller, should be a "deserving, intelligent young person from the Tekamah area". The applicant is required to have a GPA of 3.0 or above and will be judged on scholarship, community involvement and financial needs.

2024 Millennium Scholarship

Applicant must have been a student of Tekamah-Herman High School for at least 2 years and show aptitude for a specific trade, vocation, or business. Financial need, as well as good citizenship will be a consideration for this scholarship. Consideration will be given to students who have been out of high school no more than 2 years and may want to learn a trade or business.

2024 Kathryn Russell Memorial

GPA 2.0 or above. The applicant must be seeking a degree in a field that is agriculture related or a field that involves mechanical work. The applicant’s community-wide citizenship and involvement and financial need will be considered for this scholarship.

2024 Kenneth Lange-McGill

This scholarship is given through the generosity of Kenneth McGill, M. Marian McGill Wood and Erma McGill Ovenden all graduates of the Tekamah High School. Each believed in higher education and worked toward that goal. Kenneth was elected to Phi Beta Kappa when he graduated from the University of Nebraska and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy Degree by the University of Michigan. Marian, a. University of Nebraska graduate, completed professional nurse study at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and earned a Master of Arts Degree at Columbia University. Erma attained honors at the Lincoln School of Commerce. Kenneth and Marian attained basic degrees without financial aid but both earned advanced degrees through scholarships and this made them aware of the importance of monetary aid. This scholarship is awarded to help the worthy recipient realize an educational goal and carries with it the blessings and good will of the donors. A GPA of at least 3.0 is required and must show evidence of having worked to his/her potential. Financial need as well as community-wide citizenship will be considered for awarding this scholarship.

2024 Nancy Peck Memorial

Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and must have successfully completed 2 years of music classes during high school. Consideration should also be given to the applicants who have been out of high school one or more years and now want to pursue an education beyond high school. Preference should be given to an applicant who plans to pursue a music related career. The applicant's financial need as well as community-wide citizenship will be considered.

2024 Lois & Rognar Albert Peterson

Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA. Consideration should also be given to the applicants who attended the Tekamah-Herman Community Schools for only three years and have obtained a GED certificate. The applicant's financial need as well as community-wide citizenship will be considerations for the award of this scholarship.

Two scholarships are awarded annually. 2.0 GPA The applicant's community-wide citizenship and involvement will be considerations for the award of this scholarship. The applicant's financial need shall be a qualifying factor in awarding this scholarship

2024 Tekamah-Herman Tiger Pride Athletic Boosters Scholarship

Applicant must be continuing in either athletic participation or athletic education at an accredited post secondary institution with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The applicant’s financial need, work experience and community service will be considered. The applicant’s athletic participation in high school will be considered in awarding this scholarship.

2024 Hearts for Herman Scholarship

The applicant eligibility will be given to a Herman area student (old Herman School district). If no Herman student is eligible, then consideration is given to a Tekamah-Herman graduate, college student or alumni. The scholarship monies are to be applied to the second term, with satisfactory completion of the first term. The money is intended for tuition or books. The applicant may have been out of high school greater than one year but less than 5 years and wants to pursue education beyond high school and meets the eligibility requirements. A G.P.A. of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is preferred or have shown working towards his or her potential.. Financial need, as well as community citizenship will be considered for for this award.

2024 Mervin & Sally Fleming Scholarship

This scholarship is given through the generosity of Mervin and his wife Sally Fleming, believing higher education plus the experiences of such are invaluable to personal and community and country success. Mervin is a 1961 graduate of Herman High School and graduate of diesel mechanics from Nebraska Vocational Technical School. The applicant may have been out of high school greater than one year but less than 5 years and who wants to pursue education beyond high school and meets the eligibility requirements. The applicant must be a graduate from the Herman Elementary School with a high school diploma from the Tekamah-Herman High School. In the event the Herman Elementary School no longer exists, preference will be given to applicants that live in the Herman area (old Herman School District). Tekamah School District students may apply. A GPA of 2.75 is preferred or applicant has shown working towards his/her potential. Interview required. Financial need as well as community citizenship will be considered. Two letters of reference are required. **Available for alumni who have been awarded this scholarship in the past. 2024 Marialice Jackson Memorial

Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 during high school and enrolled in a school of nursing which has a registered nursing program. Financial need will be considered but shall not be the sole determining factor.
