Attention All Applicants

All applicants for the following scholarships must be a graduate from Tekamah-Herman and plan to attend and be accepted for some type of approved education beyond high school. This could be some type of college, vocational, trade, business or cosmetology school.

  • All scholarships are to be submitted online.
  • All applications are due 11:59 p.m. by April 15th
  • All applicants must be enrolled 2nd semester to be eligible to receive any scholarships.
  • All scholarship checks will be made payable to recipient and school they’re attending.
  • All applicants must list parent’s home phone with their application.

2024 Susan Gill Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must plan to attend and be accepted by a 4-year college with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Applicant must have successfully completed two years of a foreign language during high school.

2024 Phillip Hennig FFA Memorial Scholarship

A minimum GPA of 2.75. The applicant must be a member of the FFA for at least 3 years of high school and be accepted by a type of school for further education. Preference will be given to applicant going into an ag-related field of study. Community service and financial need will be considered in awarding this scholarship.

2024 Jack Family Scholarship

Lucile Jack Payne and Howard K. Payne wish to contribute funds for a scholarship in memory of Mrs. Payne's sister, Dorothy Jack Christianson and parents, Arthur H. Jack and Dora Laucomer Jack. Mrs. Christianson was a graduate of Tekamah Public Schools and a dedicated teacher and school principal. The applicant must have a cumulative high school 3.0 GPA or above and must be planning to go into the teaching profession. The applicant must plan to attend or be accepted by an approved college or university with an accredited program in Education. The committee should give strong consideration to persons who wish to change careers to that of teaching or a homemaker who wishes to go back to school to become a teacher.

2024 Marialice Jackson Memorial

Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 during high school and enrolled in a school of nursing which has a registered nursing program. Financial need will be considered but shall not be the sole determining factor.

2024 Ade and Theda Jezek

A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above is required. Since there are more scholarships available for graduating seniors than there are for past graduates, the Foundation should give strong consideration to applicants who have been out of high school one or more years. Applicants shall be judged on scholarship, community involvement, and financial needs.

2024 Henry Bayard Johnson and Gladys Wesgaard Johnson

This scholarship is given in memory of Henry Bayard Johnson and Norma Wesgaard Johnson. Applicants, as stated in the Will of Norma Johnson Mueller, should be a "deserving, intelligent young person from the Tekamah area". A cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or above and shall be judged on scholarship, community involvement, and financial needs.

2024 Kenneth Lange-McGill

This scholarship is given through the generosity of Kenneth McGill, M. Marian McGill Wood and Erma McGill Ovenden all graduates of the Tekamah High School. Each believed in higher education and worked toward that goal. Kenneth was elected to Phi Beta Kappa when he graduated from the University of Nebraska and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy Degree by the University of Michigan. Marian, a. The University of Nebraska graduate completed a professional nurse study at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and earned a Master of Arts Degree at Columbia University. Erma attained honors at the Lincoln School of Commerce. Kenneth and Marian attained basic degrees without financial aid but both earned advanced degrees through scholarships and this made them aware of the importance of monetary aid. This scholarship is awarded to help the worthy recipient realize an educational goal and carries with it the blessings and goodwill of the donors. A GPA of at least 3.0 is required and must show evidence of having worked to his/her potential. Financial need, as well as community-wide citizenship, will be considered for awarding this scholarship.

2024 Bernard LeMaster

Preference will be given to those applicants whose interests are agriculture-related. Students who are being considered for a scholarship in a vocational-technical institution or for a scholarship in a program or course of studies that does not award a baccalaureate degree upon completion shall have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 and students who are being considered for a scholarship in four year program leading to a baccalaureate degree shall have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. The applicant's financial need will be a consideration.

2024 Wayne Loftis

Two Tekamah-Herman seniors will be selected to share equally the funds generated by this scholarship fund. One recipient shall be a resident of the Herman area and the other recipient may be a resident from anywhere in the said school district. A 2.5 GPA or better, demonstrated good citizenship at school and within their community, and be people of integrity who are personable and respectful of the rights of others. Trustees will consider financial need and show preference to students with the greatest needs.

2024 Arlin Lowe Math Memorial Scholarship

The amount of the scholarship shall be $2,500 awarded to a senior graduating from the Tekamah Herman Community Schools college with a cumulative grade point average of C (2.0) or above that must plan to attend and be accepted at some type of approved four years school. The applicant must be enrolled in a math-oriented college program. This could be, but will not be limited to, the field of engineering, any math oriented science or in the field of education where the applicant plans to become a secondary math teacher. The applicant's community-wide citizenship will be a consideration for the award of this scholarship.

2024 Vaden Maxwell Memorial Scholarship

A $300 single scholarship awarded annually to a current graduate of Tekamah-Herman High School. Applicant must have participated in all 4 years in Tekamah-Herman High School Wrestling program.

2024 Millennium Scholarship

Applicant must have been a student of Tekamah-Herman High School for at least 2 years and show an aptitude for a specific trade, vocation, or business. Financial need, as well as good citizenship, will be a consideration for this scholarship. Consideration will be given to students who have been out of high school no more than 2 years and may want to learn a trade or business.

A GPA of at least 2.0. Citizenship, working to one's potential and financial need will be considered.

2024 Nancy Peck Scholarship

Applicant must have 3.0 GPA and must have successfully completed 2 years of music classes during high school. Consideration should also be given to the applicants who have been out of high school one or more years and now want to pursue an education beyond high school. Preference should be given to an applicant who plans to pursue a music-related career. The applicant's financial need, as well as community-wide citizenship will be also considered.

2.0 GPA and the applicant who attended the Tekamah-Herman Community Schools for only three years and has obtained a GED certificate may also be considered. The applicant's financial need, as well as community-wide citizenship, will be considerations for the award of this scholarship.

2024 Verle Henry and Betty Jean Vogler Memorial

Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Preference should be given to an applicant who plans to pursue an agriculture/animal science or political science program of study; and involvement in FFA, 4-H or student government activities. Financial need, volunteerism and work experience will also be considered.

Two scholarships are awarded annually. 2.0 GPA The applicant's community-wide citizenship and involvement will be considerations for the award of this scholarship. The applicant's financial need shall be a qualifying factor in awarding this scholarship.

2024 Paul Wilson Major Memorial

Students who are being considered for a scholarship in a vocational-technical institution or for a scholarship in a program or course of studies that do not award a baccalaureate degree upon completion shall have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50. Students who are being considered for a scholarship in four-year program leading to a baccalaureate degree shall have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. Financial need will be a consideration.

2024 Alumni Association

Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. The applicant's financial need as well as school and community wide citizenship will be considered for the award of this scholarship.

2024 Allely Family Medical Memorial

Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale majoring in a medical program which may include (but is not limited to) the following: medicine, dentistry, ophthalmology, pharmacy, physician's assistant, podiatry, and nursing. Chiropractic programs are excluded. The applicant's financial need and work experience will be considered. Preference will be given to a member of the United Methodist Church, but no one will be excluded on this basis.

2024 Carp City Scholarship

This $200 scholarship with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference to applicant going into a fisheries or wildlife field of study. Community service and financial need will be considered in awarding this scholarship.

2024 – Class of 1937 Scholarship

An applicant who attended the Tekamah-Herman Community Schools for only three years and has obtained a GED certificate may also be considered. Preference should be given to the applicants who have been out of high school one or more years and now want to pursue education beyond high school. Required grade point average of 2.0 or above. The applicant's community-wide citizenship and financial need shall be a major qualifying factor in awarding this scholarship.

A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above. The applicant's community-wide citizenship and involvement may be considerations for the award of this scholarship. The applicant's financial need may be a qualifying factor in awarding this scholarship. Special consideration will given to applicants who have a direct tie to a member of the Class of 1980.

2024 Adam LeRoy Gardner Memorial

The applicant must have been accepted in a nursing program. Funds will be dispersed upon verification of attendance in a nursing program. The applicants who are being considered for this scholarship shall have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5.

2024 Mervin and Sally Fleming

This scholarship is given through the generosity of Mervin and his wife Sally Fleming, believing higher education plus the experiences of such are invaluable to personal and community and country success. Mervin is a 1961 graduate of Herman High School and graduate of diesel mechanics from Nebraska Vocational Technical School. The applicant may have been out of high school greater than one year but less than 5 years and who wants to pursue education beyond high school and meets the eligibility requirements. The applicant must be a graduate from the Herman Elementary School with a high school diploma from the Tekamah-Herman High School. In the event the Herman Elementary School no longer exists, preference will be given to applicants that live in the Herman area (old Herman School District). Tekamah School District students may apply. A GPA of 2.75 is preferred or applicant has shown working towards his/her potential. Interview required. Financial need as well as community citizenship will be considered. Two letters of reference are required

2024 Kathryn Russell Memorial

GPA 2.0 or above. The applicant must be seeking a degree in a field that is agriculture related or a field that involves mechanical work. The applicant’s community-wide citizenship and involvement and financial need will be considered for this scholarship.

2024 Tekamah-Herman Tiger Pride Athletic Boosters Scholarship

Applicant must be continuing in either athletic participation or athletic education at an accredited post secondary institution with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The applicant’s financial need, work experience and community service will be considered. The applicant’s athletic participation in high school will be considered in awarding this scholarship.

2024 Hearts for Herman Scholarship

The applicant eligibility will be given to a Herman area student (old Herman School district). If no Herman student is eligible, then consideration is given to a Tekamah-Herman graduate, college student or alumni. The scholarship monies are to be applied to the second term, with satisfactory completion of the first term. The money is intended for tuition or books. The applicant may have been out of high school greater than one year but less than 5 years and wants to pursue education beyond high school and meets the eligibility requirements. A G.P.A. of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is preferred or have shown working towards his or her potential.. Financial need, as well as community citizenship will be considered for for this award.

2024 Cody Olsen Memorial Scholarship for Trade School

This scholarship is in memory of Cody Olsen - Class of 1998. The applicant must be pursuing a trade or vocational degree or license with a current GPA of 2.5.

2024 Tekamah-Herman FBLA Scholarship

The applicant must be a current graduate and accepted by a university or college with plans on majoring in a business or technology field. Students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Students must have been in FBLA for at least 2 years, including their senior year.

2024 Girls Basketball Leadership Scholarship

Applicant must be furthering their education by attending a 2 year or 4 year college/university with a 3.0 GPA. The applicant must have been a member of the Girl’s Basketball team all 4 years of high school. Applicant's community service, athletic participation in high school, and demonstration of leadership qualities in/out of the program will be highly considered in awarding this scholarship.

The applicant must must be accepted by a university or 2-year or 4-year college, show participation in leadership positions and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

2024 Cooper Jarzynka Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Cooper Jarzynka. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and show participation in any sport during their high school years. Applicants must show qualities of sportsmanship, leadership,generosity and pride in his/her contribution and participation in athletics, academics and community activities, exemplifying those standards in which Cooper Jarzynka sought and excelled.

Students who are being considered for this scholarship shall have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. and must be involved in community service.

2024 Don Connealy Memorial Scholarship

Students applying for this scholarship must have a cumulative grade point average greater than 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must plan to attend, and be accepted at, a 2 or 4 year college, university, or vocational/trade school and demonstrate participation in extracurricular activities, clubs, sports, and/or volunteering, during their high school years.

2024 Victoria Ann Elliott Marshall Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Preference should be given to an applicant who plans to pursue a political science program of study and is involved in student government activities. Financial need, volunteerism and work experience will also be considered.

2024 Prudie M. Skinner Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Prudie Skinner, kindergarten teacher at Tekamah-Herman Public Schools. Students applying for this scholarship must have a cumulative grade point average greater than 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and plan to attend, and be accepted at, a 2 or 4 year community college, college or university, with an emphasis in education. Applicants must demonstrate participation in extracurricular activities, clubs, sports, and/or volunteering, during their high school years.

2024 Dave and Joanne Wragge Scholarship

This scholarship is to honor David and Joann Wragge for their contributions to Tekamah and the surrounding area.  The applicant must be a graduating senior of Tekamah-Herman High School with a minimum GPA of 2.50. The applicant must be accepted by a type of school for further education. This may be a four year college or a vocational/trade school. Financial need will be considered.

2024 Class of 1970 Scholarship

The applicant must be accepted to a 2 or 4 year college, university or vocational/trade school. GPA will not be considered for this award. Award recipient should have performed acts of kindness during their high school years at THS – those acts having been done without regard for personal gain. Applicants need to include two letters (written by anyone other than family or relatives) attesting to the acts of kindness.
